Bro. Jonathan preached this morning on the parable of the sower. He emphasised that all four examples are children of God, but that each of us may respond to the Word in different ways. The seed is pure, the word is pure. Those that hear, HATH life. You must have life to believe. Some hear but don’t understand, perhaps we should be better at helping them – the seed by the wayside that never has a chance to grow. Some hear and rejoice, but things come up and they become offended and leave – the seed falls in stoney ground. Sadly this is common, because we often fail to grow and put down good roots, and rather than becoming strong and enduring tribulation we become easily offended over petty things. Some hear and receive the word, but everyday things slowly choke out their love for the Lord, they gradually quit bearing fruit, and they eventually fade away – those fell among thorns. Some hear, understand, grown and bring forth varying amounts of fruit – these are those that fell in good ground. To bring forth more fruit we must study, mediate on, and apply that which we’ve heard. This is the road to discipleship.
