Visiting Elder Daniel Wood from Tennessee then presented a very robust sermon using Revelation 7:1-9 as his main text with additional support from Genesis 37, 38, 43 and 49:8-10, Isaiah 7:14, John 3:5-8, Hebrews 9, Micah 5:2, and various other scriptures. Elder Wood in presenting his primary text reflected on how the tribe of Juda was moved to the head of the list before the tribe of Reuben, whereas in Genesis Reuben had held this primary birthright position as 1st born because Juda (like Christ for us) had become a surety for his brother Benjamin. He also pointed out that those spoken of that “stood before the throne and before the Lamb” and were clothed in white robes with palms in their hands were a great multitude such that no man could number them. He also taught that this number will be from every nation, kindred, people, and tongue. Elder Wood also declared that the blood of Christ is sufficient to seal the salvation of this great multitude and to do so without any help from men. He paid it all with His own blood and He is our surety. Elder Wood also reflected on the life of Joseph as a type and shadow of our Lord Jesus – – both were conspired against, both were betrayed, both were despised, both were mocked, both were abandoned, and both provided salvation to those that were responsible for their abuse. Yet in all these things, Joseph was blessed and prospered in spite of where he was and his circumstance, just as we can prosper in spite of the circumstances in our world today. Elder Wood also emphasized that God has not lost control of His creation and encouraged us to not “sell out” to the things of this world, as did all of the Joseph’s brothers, by forsaking the church and the Biblical truth we have in scripture.
