"Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us…" -Ephesians 5:1-2
"For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. " - 1 Corinthians 1:18

John the Baptist as a Bridge

Elder Nathan Meeks from Fort Wayne, Indiana, was then called upon to provide a sermon. He chose John 1:29 as his primary text with support from Genesis 4:4 and 22:1-12, Exodus 12:1-14 and 29:38-39, Isaiah Chapter 53, and numerous other scriptures. In his presentation Elder Meeks related the role of John the Baptist as a bridge between the Jewish law and the grace inherent in Jesus Christ. He encouraged us all to also “behold the Lamb of God” just as John the Baptist had done in his day – – to see Him in His deity, to see Him in His supremacy, to see Him in His perfection, and to see Him in His sufficiency.
