"Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us…" -Ephesians 5:1-2
"For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. " - 1 Corinthians 1:18

Diligently seek the Lord

Elder Daryl Hand then provided a powerful and stirring sermon using Psalm 19:7-11 as his initial text with additional support from 2nd Chronicles 15:1-11, Nehemiah 9:21-31, Deuteronomy 28:1-8, Romans 6:9-23, Isaiah 45:4-7, John 1:1-5 and 3:6, 2nd Corinthians 5:17-21, Colossians 3:1-3, and various other scriptures. Elder Hand began by declaring that whenever we diligently seek the Lord, He shall always be found and there is great reward that comes to us in this life from our obedience to His instruction. Elder Hand also emphasized how important it is for us to continuously meditate upon the Word of God that we may be amazingly transformed by His wondrous love. It is a magnificent transformation that enables us go from being servants of sin to becoming servants of God as our minds, thinking, and hearts, and subsequently our actions, are all changed. Elder Hand strongly emphasized that all these scriptures which contain conditional statements regarding the need for obedience relative to salvation are addressing our temporal salvation, not our eternal salvation. He further emphasized that Jesus Christ alone, by His shed blood, has obtained and fully secures our eternal salvation and we can neither contribute anything to, nor take anything away, from what He has done. Our obedience thus contributes nothing to our eternal salvation, but rather is a consequence of being born of His Holy Spirit and growing daily in the knowledge of His great unconditional love for us.
