Bro. Jonathan spoke today on the second ordinance of the Church that of communion. He reminded us that the ordinances are important because they were given to us by Christ himself. He focused on our practice of having a close communion of believers, and showed where it is the biblical example of how communion should be carried out. He explained that communion is a benefit or a blessing of Church membership, that this practice has nothing to do with our eternal home in glory but everything in serving God here. He also stressed the intimacy of communion being between us and God. We are to be reflecting on Him, remembering His sacrifice. It should be a time of introspection in our lives. Finally communion is showing once again our obedience to Christ, not merely a ritual or a big party, rather we are to come together of one mind in one accord reaffirming our desire to follow him.
