Bro. Jonathan continued to develop the topic of Baptism today. He began by laying out how the early Church conducted baptism in Acts 2. It is us showing the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. We are fully buried in the water, and then are raised like Christ was, and one day we will too. It is us showing our willingness to forsake this life and walk in a newness of life. It doesn’t give us life, but shows forth our life. Since we are baptized into his death and resurrection, we have no reason to be baptized unless we believe in a resurrected Saviour. It is something we do willingly showing the relationship we have with Him. Just as He was submissive to His Father and died for us on the cross, we should willingly submit to Him and take the step forward in baptism. This has been handed down from Jesus Himself, through the apostles and elders to us through the Church.
